What Prince George's County Divorce Records Contain

A Prince George's County divorce case file is built up over the life of the case. The CC-DR-020 (Complaint for Absolute Divorce) starts the file when it is first filed. It is accompanied by the CC-DCM-001 (Civil-Domestic Case Information Report), which gives the court background on the parties and the nature of the case. Financial statements come in as form CC-DR-030 or CC-DR-031, depending on combined income. The CC-DR-033 (Joint Statement of Marital and Non-Marital Property) lists all assets and debts. A Certificate of Service confirms that all papers were properly delivered to the other party.

As the case moves forward, the file grows. The CC-DR-050 (Answer) is the responding spouse's reply. A CC-DR-094 (Counter-Complaint for Absolute Divorce) may be filed if the other spouse has their own claims. Motions, temporary orders, and hearing notices all go into the file. If the parties reach an agreement, the CC-DR-116 (Settlement Agreement) is filed. Cases with children also include a CC-DR-109 or CC-DR-110 (Parenting Plan or Joint Statement of Parenting Plan), Child Support Worksheets on forms CC-DR-034 or CC-DR-035, and, if retirement accounts are divided, a Qualified Domestic Relations Order (QDRO).

The final document is the CC-DR-072 (Judgment of Absolute Divorce). It names both parties, lists the marriage date and location, states the grounds for divorce, and sets out all final terms. Maryland law under Md. Code, Family Law § 7-103 recognizes three grounds for absolute divorce. The specific ground cited is part of the record. If a name change was granted, it appears in the decree as well. Certified copies carry the judge's signature and the court seal.
